Goodwood 5 & Harting 10

With the spectacular backdrop of the South Downs, the Harting 10 mile run is very popular. This multi-terrain course is quite undulating with almost 1000ft of elevation, therefore making it a challenging run, especially with the current warm weather. Lesley Ward ran an outstanding race for Tone Zone Runners and finished 1st in the over 60's category in a time of 1:47. Laura Newell managed to beat her time from last year by 11 minutes showing how much she has improved in that time, she was closely followed over the line by Paul Coe, both finishing in 1:28. Neil Borley ran well to finish 5 minutes later.

Helena Wilmers continued her recent good form with a great personal best of 1:43:11, Sarah Spurr and Nicky King both om 2:11.

On Saturday 6th August, Paul Coe competed in his 32nd marathon. This time the venue was Sunbury-on-Thames for a route along the River Thames tow-path. Yet again the warm weather affected the runners and Paul suffered towards the end of the race and having to so his pace but despite this he still ran the marathon in 3:54.

Earlier in the week saw the annual Goodwood 5 mile charity race in aid of Chestnut Tree House. The race was won by Tone Zone runner Steven McLoughlin, who managed to blast round the course in just under 30 minutes. David Skidmore, Alan Coombs and Derek Edwards all ran in under 40 minutes
