Worthing, Portsmouth & Wokingham

A cold and misty Sunday morning greeted 14 members of Tone Zone Runners as they took the short drive east for the Worthing Half Marathon. The star of the race was Jess Thomson who managed to smash an incredible 4 minutes from her previous best time to finish in 1:40:45. Also performing very well were Claire Baker and Chris Dummer who both achieved PB's in 2:06 and 1:30 respectively, with Chris also being the first Tone Zoner to finish. For Nicola Kettley and Lucy Brand, Worthing was their first attempt at the half marathon distance, they both ran very well and completed the course.

Along the coast in Southsea was the Portsmouth Coastal half marathon which is normally a slog through

mud, hail and sea spray but fortunately the runners were spared most of that this year. 7 club runners took part with club coach Jackie Williamson leading the way with Neil Pacey following close behind for his best half marathon time of 1:54.

Heading north was Simon Gill who ran in the Wokingham Half Marathon. He is currently midway through training for the Brighton Marathon in 8 weeks time, so this would be a good test to see how he was progressing. Simon passed the test with flying colours, keeping a fast and even pace throughout the race to finish in 1:12:14, taking over a minute from his previous best.
