Bognor athletes are motoring at Goodwood circuit

Tone Zone Runners were back at the Goodwood Motor Circuit to continue their return to racing.

There was a 5k, 10k, half marathon, 20-miler and marathon and Tone Zone had three runners in the 10k and five in the half marathon.

Conditions couldn’t have been much better.

Byron Kearns was in the half marathon and his aim was to run a new PB – 1hr 27 min was the time to beat and Kearns managed 1:22:35, showing the hard work he put in over winter has paid off.

Jessica Thomson, the only female runner from Tone Zone at Goodwood, ran an impressive 1:37:41. Peter Ramsdale was next across the line in 1:51 with Stuart Thomson just sneaking in under the two-hour mark in 1:59:00. Alan Haskell ran his second fastest half marathon in 2:11:51.

In the 10k Chris Norman was the first to finish for the club, in 48:55. Charles Stewart made a long-awaited return to racing with a time of 1:06:34, a few minutes off his personal best, and John Abell got back into the swing of races again with a 1:15:31.

Tone Zone had two runners at the Bluebell ten-mile in Angmering, a tough off-road route with a few hills. Marzena Sowinska finished in a very good 1:24:22 with Andrew Medlock finishing just under 1.40.

Nathalie Reynolds was running in the Phoenix Marathon in Dorking which was eight laps of a 3.3-mile loop of a hilly vineyard. She finished in 5hr 30min.

In the Jersey Sparton Spring 10k, Tony Hancock finished in 47.39.
