Back in April 2024 the Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners decided to take a step up in how they can support local charities and worthy causes, using funds accrued from the organisation of the Bognor Regis Prom 10k alongside the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham.
Since then Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners has continued its proud tradition of giving back, donating thousands of pounds to charities and good causes, the following article looks at what has been done to help support local people and organisations.
Over the past year, the club has made a number of £100 donations to causes close to the community. These included support for Bognor Food Bank, helping to purchase additional food supplies during the busy Christmas period, and a contribution to the Chichester & Arun Down Syndrome Support Group, which went towards funding their New Year’s Eve party for members. The club also donated £100 to Deligo Eatery in Felpham, supporting its Christmas appeal for local families in need.
During 2024, Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners were also able to donate £587 towards the installation of two local defibrillators on the Summerly Estate in Felpham and West Park, helping to improve community safety. This was following a social media plea for more defibrillators in the local area.
Charity partnerships linked to major running events have generated even greater impact. In 2024, Cancer United benefited from a £1,000 donation for being the club's chosen charity partner for the Bognor Regis Prom 10k. 2025 saw Sage House as the club’s chosen charity partner for the Bognor Regis 10k in 2025. After a very successful 2025 race the club were able to donate a substantial £3,000 to support people living with dementia.

In addition to club-led fundraising, members have taken part in a wide range of high-profile races throughout the year, including the London Marathon, Bath Half Marathon, and Brighton Marathon. Club members who are raising money for charities are now able to reach out to the committee and ask for a donation to their chosen charity. Charities such as St Wilfrid’s Hospice, The Brain Tumour Charity, and Taylor Makes Dreams have benefitted from this initiative and through individual efforts from members, the club donated a total of £1,050 in 2024 and £375 in 2025.
The club has also invested in non-charity items that directly support local running events and volunteers. This included the purchase of a new set of pacer flags for the Bognor 10k, costing £2,339.84, and a new set of walkie talkies for Bognor Parkrun something vital for safety for those partaking, at a cost of £264.95.
All funds donated by Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners are raised through the annual Bognor 10k, held each May. With entries now open, the club is encouraging runners of all abilities to take part in the popular local event and help continue supporting charities and good causes across the community.
