On a crisp Autumn day in the middle of October a sea of 65 Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners took the trip down to Southsea for the Great South Run, amongst 20,000 other runners. There were also races in Oxford and Amsterdam the past weekend. The Great South Run is a 10 mile road race taking in the sights of Portsmouth before finishing along Southsea Common, with over 20,000 runners attending, lots of elite runners and some of the biggest names in British running right now the race is always a spectacle with lots of support.

Sean Power made the flight back from Denmark to his motherland to run an incredible time of 54:13, finishing 43rd overall! Jack Penfold finished in a PB of 56:00 to finish 74th with Christo Oosthuizen continuing his incredible form to run a 59:06.

Over in Oxford was the sole Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runner Daniel Hughes taking part in the Oxford Half Marathon. Hughes was targeting a 2:15 and beat that by 2 minutes, running a 2:12:59.

Going international was Mark Phillips who was running the Amsterdam Marathon. After a tough race in his debut marathon last year that resulted in Phillips pulling out it was time for redemption. Phillps had put together a great marathon training block and ran a time of 3:03:38, and I’m sure we’ll see the 3 hour barrier broken soon enough!
