We're back racing!

18 Bognor Regis Tone Zone Runners were out racing this weekend. One in Dorset, one in Jersey and the rest a little more local at either Goodwood or Plumpton.

Starting at a very cold Goodwood Motor Circuit on Sunday 6th December, runners were out ready to take to the track to race the 5k, 10k, Half Marathon or 20 Miles. In the 5k was Jack Penfold, Erin Wells and Steve Gracey. Setting off in 2 second intervals to avoid crowding the runners headed off for their lap of the track. Unfortunately the lead bike had turned the runners around too early at the turn point making the 5k a 4.6km race. All the times were adjusted to make the 5k distance and the 5k runners who were sent the wrong way received a refund and a free entry. Jack Penfold’s adjusted time was 16:55 with Erin Wells and Steve Gracey running strong times in the cold and wind, finishing in 18:02 and 20:26 as their adjusted times.

In the 10k Daryl Fairbrother finished 3rd in his wave and 1st in his age category in a time of 44:42. Gary Smith finished in 50:04 with Daniel Hughes just behind in 51:35. Bushka Sklandanek finished in 56:42; 10 minutes ahead of Beth Suter in 1:06:08 who was 10 minutes ahead of Jayne Marshall in 1:15:59.

In the half marathon, Martin Playford finished 1st in his category in a time of 1:56:23. Tony Holcombe ran his furthest after an awful long time out with a shoulder injury to finish in a very good time of 2:06:53. Andy Medlock snuck under the 2 hour 10 minute mark finishing in 2:09:19.

Christo Oosthuizen was the only member running the 20 miler and finished in an outstanding time of 2:07:24 to finish 2nd overall. Averaging a super quick pace which bodes well for his next go at the marathon distance.

Over in Plumpton for the very hilly, muddy and cold trail race; Debi Haddleton, Lisa Wadey and Leigh Paige took on the 16.9k (10.5 mile) trail run. Debi finished in 2.02.43 with Lisa and Leigh running together to finish the challenging course in 2:25. Sam Yates was taking part in the 9km (5.6 mile) course and finished in a strong time of 1:18:28. Further from home in Dorset was Luke Simmonds. Luke was taking on an incredibly challenging Marathon which runs along the Jurassic Coast taking in 5,362ft of elevation! Simmonds completed the tough marathon in a time of 5:53:00.

Over in Jersey was Tony Hancock (who has been able to race most weeks the lucky boy!). Tony was racing in the local West Park 5k and finished in a time of 23:17.
